The following instructors have volunteered at Rock Camp within the past two years, and are offering lessons outside of camp. Private lessons are not affiliated with BAGRC--this is simply a referral list for interested students.

Bio: As a bass instructor and bass support person with BAGRC, I have focused on ways to keep beginning students engaged in learning music. I adjust bass lessons to fit a student's learning style. My goal is to help learners build strong foundational skills while staying enthusiastic and motivated.

Chanelle Ignant / Lessons: Guitar
Locations: I live in West Oakland, and can host lessons at my house or travel to the student's home.
Bio: With over 10 years of playing experience, I'm comfortable teaching various styles on both acoustic and electric guitar for all experience levels. My current band blends jazz and R&B styles. I've been teaching music informally for two years, and I first volunteered with BAGRC in the summer of 2017.

Gesine Lohr / Lessons: Keyboard
Locations: I travel to student's home, in Oakland, Alameda, nearby.
Rate: Serious sliding scale, negotiable (I am happy to give a first lesson free, and want girls to have access to lessons)
Bio: I love keyboards! I've played rock keyboard since 1981, played & taught piano, rock keyboard, harpsichord, & drums. I've been in a number of rock and blues bands (several all female). Since 2011 I've taught rock keyboard at BAGRC and do keyboard support at BAGRC. You can make powerful keyboard lines and parts, from very simple bits!

Bio: I have been playing guitar since age 12, and have several years of formal keyboard training. I have played in a number of bands over the years. I play mostly rock, but have also played other styles such as folk and classical. I have taught at BAGRC since 2012 (mostly guitar, some keyboard).

Bio: I’ve played acoustic and electric guitar for 20 years, as well as playing in a dreampop/punk band and a bluegrass guitar duo. I’ve taught guitar to youths from ages 8 to 18, beginner to intermediate, at Bay Area Girls Rock Camp and Girls Rock After School Program in Oakland.
