Bio: I have been teaching private lessons for 4 years and taught in public schools and centers before that. I have a Music Performance Certificate from Denison University. I've been teaching vocals for BAGRC for the past 3 years and it's the best experience!

Emily Vanderlyn

Rate: Sliding scale $5-10 for 30 minute lessons.
Bio: I am self taught, multi-instrument musician of 10 years. I have given music lessons to people ages 3 to 70 years old for piano, guitar, voice, accordion, bass (in girls rock camp), and drums. I prefer to teach beginners with a focus on creative process.

Gesine Lohr

Rate: Serious sliding scale, negotiable (I am happy to give a first lesson free, and want girls to have access to lessons)
Bio: I love keyboards! I've played rock keyboard since 1981, played & taught piano, rock keyboard, harpsichord, & drums. I've been in a number of rock and blues bands (several all female). Since 2011 I've taught rock keyboard at BAGRC and do keyboard support at BAGRC. You can make powerful keyboard lines and parts, from very simple bits!

Jean Richter

Bio: I have been playing guitar since age 12, and have several years of formal keyboard training. I have played in a number of bands over the years. I play mostly rock, but have also played other styles such as folk and classical. I have taught at BAGRC since 2012 (mostly guitar, some keyboard).

Bio:  I have played piano for 20+ years, worked with youth and young adults for 10+ years, volunteered at rock camp for 6 summers. Bilingual (mandarin) artist and youth advocate from Orange County, now based in Emeryville. I look forward to hearing from you!

Kali Boyce
Lessons: Bass, Guitar - (advanced techniques: slide & open tuning)
Location: Emeryville/Oakland Lessons - can travel short distances.
Rate: $40 per lesson (cost/length negotiable)
Bio: I've been a bass instructor and gear manager with BAGRC for 3 years. I have been a working musician since the late 1970's! I play bass as well as guitar & percussion in many genres. I am a singer/songwriter and an audio engineer. Students of all ages welcome! Thank you!

Bio: I’ve played acoustic and electric guitar for 20 years, as well as playing in a dreampop/punk band and a bluegrass guitar duo. I’ve taught guitar to youths from ages 8 to 18, beginner to intermediate, at Bay Area Girls Rock Camp and Girls Rock After School Program in Oakland.

Bio: I've played bass for 5 years, and am taking adv. Jazz and AP Music Theory this year. 4 years of jazz / 3 years rock band experience. I've taught and mentored at BAGRC twice and it's been a wonderful experience!

Bio: I'm a career musician, touring and opening for heroes like Levon Helm and Steve Forbert. I love teaching performing/songwriting skills and technique in many styles, and work to the specific wants of the student. I'm also a trans activist, actor, and published poet.
